For the first time in Pakistan, a Hindu woman Saveera Prakash from the north west province of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is set to contest general elections in 2024.

Saveera Prakash, a medical doctor by profession, whose family has a deep connections with Pakistan People’s Party (PPP). Saveera Prakash has filled her nomination for the general seat PK-25. She would contest from Buner district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Pakistan.

If endorsed by People’s Party of Pakistan (PPP), Saveera would be the first woman from her constituency, Buner to contest the national election.

Who is Saveera Prakash?

Saveera Prakash,hailing from a medical background, has a long standing and deep connections with PPP. Basically, her Father Oam Prakash is also a doctor, he has root connections with PPP as reported by Dawn, a news website.

Dr Om Prakash , a renowned doctor known for his dedication to the welfare of humanity, has played a pivotal role in serving both public and private sector health centres.

The PPP, has recognised her potential, urged her Father, Dr Om Prakash, active political and social worker,to bring his daughter into the political arena.

Saveera Praksh is graduate MBBS doctor from the Abbottabad International Medical College in 2022. Saveera currently holds the position general secretary of the PPP women’s wing in Buner.

In an interview she has expressed her willingness to follow her father’s footsteps and serve the underprivileged population.

She emphasized her commitment to advocate for women’s human rights in Pakistan. She will strive to create a safe environment for them to assert their rights, especially in such sectors in which they have been neglected, suppressed and overlooked.

She beleives that increased female participation in politics is pivotal for reshaping the socio economic dynamic of the country.

Citing her medical background, Saveera Prakash want’s to become an elected legislator. Her focus area would be to improve the mismanagement in government run hospitals.

Notably, Social media Influencer Imran Noshad Khan from Buner has publically supported Saveera’s candidacy, irrespective of political affiliation.

Imran Noshad Khan highlighted Saveera’s pivotal role in breaking stereotypes perpetrated by traditional patriarchy. He also highlighted that no woman candidate is stepped forward to contest an election since 55years of merger of Buner to Pakistan.
