The full name of Vijaykanth was Vijayraj Alagarswami Vijaykanth, popularly known as Captain Vijaykanth. Vijaykanth was an Indian Politician and Actor. He was the leader of opposition of the Tamilnadu state assembly from 2011 to 2016.
Before coming into politics he was a veteran actor in the Tamilnadu film Industry. He also directed some Tamil movies and acted too. He was very famous in Tamilnadu.
He launched a new party named “Desiya Murpokku Dravida Kazhagam”(DMDK) on 14 September 2005, at a Political conference held at Madurai.

Vijaykanth DKDM party won the Legislative election in Tamilnadu in alliance with ADMK.
He was also the president of South Indian Actor Association, under his presidency, the debt of the association were cleared by organising celebrity shows overseas.
